What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy can help aid people with movement disorder which may be present from birth or acquired throughaccident injury or a life changing event. Physiotherapists use a range of techniques to help your muscles and joints work to their full potential. Treatment can help repair damange by speeding up the healing process, reducing pain and stiffness.
Physiotherapists also have an important role in rehabilitation, for example, helping people who have had strokes to relearn basic movements.
What Types of Problems can Physiotherapist Help With?
Virtually any condition that affects your muscles, joints, or nerves can be helped by physiotherapy. Common problems include:

The Role of an Exercise Physiologist:
The term “Exercise Physiologist” (EP) describes an exercise specialist who is able to design and deliver exercise programs, to fulfil a client’s needs. Such programs may involve things such as Pilates, gym programs and home-based exercises. The goal is to improve the client’s range of motion, strength, and functional capacity.
They specialise in exercise for rehabilitation, exercise for health and well being, chronic and complex medical conditions, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, work conditioning and improvements in sports performance. EPs are trained in preventing the onset of disease through exercise and lifestyle modification, in the treatment of disease, understanding interactions of exercise and pharmacology, managing multiple medical conditions, attending to the risk factor, health education and in providing post-acute exercise rehabilitation – all with a view to produce effective and cost effective solutions.
EPs operate uniquely in the healthcare market in that they deliver exercise programs that also incorporate proven strategies that facilitate long-term behaviour change.
